The Slang - Night and Day (Official Video)

Has Rock music lost it's way into telling a story? Not until The Slang hang it up for good.  The two man power trip of John Bobo and John Newsome , has brought their A-game for their chilled sound and artistic storytelling for the newest EP entitled Night and Day . The perfect example of they're 'way with words' can be coherently heard on today's video feature from the title track off their project.  Check out the visual to "Night and Day" and hear the project in full here .

The Furious Seasons - Longshot

From Peter, Paul & Mary , to Paul Simon , to the legendary Bob Dylan , folk music has always been an art of storytelling infused with a classical tone and tie in with culture and current events. But for band mates David Steinhart, Jeff Steinhart and Paul Nelson, The Furious Seasons , it’s about the stories that are personal that they want to convey with the world. So with today’s feature, were presented with the very essence that made the folk/alternative genre such a powerhouse throughout the 70s & 80s: narration with intricate vocals. From David's pinpoint precision on his emphasis on words that would make Bob Dylan blush to guitar riffs that would make a MTV unplugged fan sway in rhythm, The Furious Seasons provide what we feel as a introduction of a impactful family drama in less than 4 minutes. Here's to hoping we hear them on television soon, here's "Longshot" . Their new project, Look West coming October 7.

Jhanra - White Dress

The genre considered as folk music has been diluted severely by an industry oversaturated with synths and studio sound. The Connecticut-based singer Jhanra is a rare breed. Armed with her guitar in hand, the “traditional” folk singer has dedicated her voice to the acoustic. And for today’s debut feature, we focus on the ‘big day’! Wedding bells are ringing, the family is all here, and here is the most beautiful woman in a world… all in white. Dedicated to the luckiest girl in the world, either albeit you (or eventually Jhanra herself), here’s “White Dress”. Download “White Dress” via iTunes here .
