This is Upstate: Syracuse vs. Utica

July 22nd was a memorable day! DJ Tiff Dollaz released the most anticipated cypher of the summer, "This is Upstate." Within, the first 24 hours,  the video had about 1.5k views. Simultaneously,  Anthony Obas curated his second event the same day, "The Voiceless Meet Up", which provided an experience for everyone! Now, the two face off in one of the most significant events in the independent music scene.   This is Upstate: Syracuse vs. Utica    A Battle to determine which 315 can put on a better show for the people.  Representing Utica are:  Razzle Nazzy  Wanblvd  Representing Syracuse are  Ya Boy Majik  Justin Witter/Mike O' Leary  Tanksley    Each artist will have a 20 minute set and can do whatever they want during that set.  Bring other artists,  create a mash pit, perform with a live band, whatever. The purpose of the event is to create a memorable performance for ...

We on an Indie-Tour

Tribe Called Quest's song, "Award Tour", is a classic. When we talk about touring, these guys have done it all. Tokoyo, LA, NY, you name it, Tribe Called Quest has been there to perform.  Touring is by far every artist's dream. While touring, you get to see new cities, meet new fans, and also get a check. Tribe Called Quest was able to do all that when streaming services did not influence touring.  The idea on what is touring and how to organize one has not changed and we are going to talk about that now! Touring is simply this: BREAKING YOUR MUSIC INTO NEW MARKETS. You, the artist, travel to different cities to perform hoping to gain a newer audience that will ultimately promote your music pass that city.  If this is done right, you will see your numbers go up, on both your previous music and whatever music is to come! Now question is, have I seen touring been done right lately from the indie-stry? FUCK NO! Here's a couple of reasons why it hasn't bee...

Breaking News: Seth Dollar Responds to "This is a Music Video"

" This is a Music Video " was a successful blog on Friday. So many different responses. However,  one person challenged the blog, Seth Dollar , a Syracuse artist, who explained the idea of a music video using his latest video, "Double Feature". This music video was a combination of two songs off his album "Vanity" ; Girl Talk and Shuffle .  We see an 80's aesthetics and it is matched with location and lighting of the video. We see a back and forth conversation with the artist and the girl as he tries to figure out her intentions.  Did the director and the artist accomplish their vision? Well you are going to determine it now! Video below!    I think Seth Dollar  and director, Jacob Brown , accomplished the mission.  I clearly understood what was going on. Seth Dollar wants to make sure that other artists can do the same thing.  He jumped on a podcast with me to explain the significance of his video, but also his response to my artic...

The Need 4 Voicelessmusic

Checkmate for a lot of you independent artists and a potential L for major labels. What do you mean? I mean is that artists honestly dont need to sign with a major record label anymore since Spotify became public as of 4/3/2018.  Spotify has figured out another way to generate funding for the company. Since they have more money being generated, they are able to give artists more money for their music! OMG. Yes and we will furthur explain below. The graph above is extremely confusing, so I am going to explain it as thoroughly possible. Graph 1 represents an artist signed with a major label.  Graph 2 represents and artist signed with an independent label. Graph 3 represents an artist who is truly independent.  As you can see, each graph shows the flow of $1.00. As you start to cut the labels and publishing companies, the artist is able to attain more money for themselves. This is clearly represented in Graph 3. However,  the problem in this graph is that the ...

Richard Pigkaso - No Freedom (Official Video)

Who's going to talk about black oppression from the independent scene? We have Jay-z, Common, and Kendrick Lamar from the mainstream industry, but who from the independent scene. Well,  Voicelessmusic has a superhero, famously know as Yo-Yo man,  Richard Pigkaso  and he brings  Josh DWH  and  MaDDMann to talk about it. Let's get into it.  After his performance from The Give Back Show , Richard Pigkaso dropped the visual to his single, No Freedom . Wearing his Colin Kaepernick shirt, Richard Pigkaso knew that it was about time to speak out against the injustice.Lines such as, " Good die young, so prepare for the eulogy " is just a calling call for people to wake up.  He is able to do this through an Eminem flow.  This allows Josh DWH  and MADDMANN  to present the issue differently, for neither one of them back down to talk about the issue. Overall, a must needed track from the independent scene.  So why wait? Cli...

Breaking News: Ant the Rebel (DJ AO) creates his first event.

Claim the Throne , is an event that I have been planning since the beginning of my semester.  Seeing the works of Cool Chellz , DJ Mainstream , Blackout the Rebel ,  and Katie Kay , it was only right for the most pettiest one to create his own event.  Claim the Throne will occur on January 13th, in Harlem, New York at Harlem Nights. Doors will open at 7 and the showcase will start at 8. The goal of this event is to see what these independent artists have to offer since there are so many artists. It will feature 8 artists from various genres. It is not a competition, but a test to see whether some of these artists are worthy for this game we call "Music".  In addition, we will have two vendors. They will be selling some art work and apparels. It will be a night of music and fun.  I am inviting all artists and media to come network and have fun. It is always fun when you are  Kickin it w. DJ AO (Ant the Rebel).  For further details,...

Call em Out #4

credit to Siyaka Taylor Lewis Here we go! Call em Out Episode 4. We bring CLNS reporter and producer of The Bobcast , Bobby Manning , on this episode to talk about some troubling issues.   For Bobby Manning, it was a concern for the extreme hazing that goes on college campus. He called out all those individuals who condone hazing on college campus. He feels that it is time for the university to start taking action. For Bobby, it is not a question about how to stop it, but when.   For me,  I called out Twitter and some of my competitors. For Twitter,  we agreed that 280 characters was too much. For my competitors, they need to stop while they have a chance because we don't have the same platform. Just keeping it a buck!  Hit that link below.

#VoicelessMusic @ Syracuse University

What a day! Voicelessmusic touching the college campus. I, Anthony Obas, was able to talk to a couple of students about Voicelessmusic and how we get down. Thanks you to the NAACP at Syracuse!  In the presentation, I was able to introduce the students to independent music. I gave them insights to what we do and our goal for each and every independent artist. By the end of the presentation, students were extremely interested in the company and I earned the title as  The "Young Voice of the Voiceless".  Full segment below.

Call em Out Episode 3

Oh no, another one! Yeah we got another episode of Call em Out. This time I bring my friend Ricardo from Le Moyne to talk that talk.  In this episode, we talked about relationship, communication, and business.  Each topic revolves around one theme: a consistent approach. It seems like a lot of you love sucking the joy out of certain opportunities or interactions. Ricardo and I agree that, whatever the topic of discussion was, your approach matters. It can either break or make some us. The first approach matters, but we believe the approaches after that must match the first one! See what went down on this episode. Hit that play button.

Voiceless Music Breaks Hearts

Voiceless Music is dominating the industry, but unfortunately, we have to break hearts.  Artist, Johar , and his manager, Roody Joseph , have decided to start their own clothing brand. A brand that reflects urban New York lifestyle. A lot of the young kids are wearing it, so Voiceless Music can rock it too!  If you like what you see, you can order a shirt on their website, by clicking on  "Heart Breakers Klub" !

Voicelessmusic: Call Em Out Episode #2

It's about that time, Call em Out!  Today I call out all radio personals who don't have a diverse ear. You can't be in the music industry if you only listen to one specific genre. Expand your ears and start understanding music for your brand will grow!  Another call out is for the people who are not having a conversation about the incident in Las Vegas. I don't care what your political views are. You need to have this conversation with people either younger or older. Make the change  Second Episode below!
