Voiceless Minute: Way Too Early 2020 Voiceless Music Awards Nominees...

As Voiceless Music continues to rebrand, we revamp some of our older segments and give them a brand new look for the future! For example, we are giving Voiceless Minute a new look with a Bleacher Report style report where we give an in-depth look at the industry! After one day of revealing the 2019 Voiceless Music Awards winners, we already look toward the future with WAY too early 2020 Voiceless Music Awards nominees as we look to see who may be nominated for our now infamous show.  ------------------------- Almost Owen Possible nomination: BREAKOUT Artist Almost Owen surprised us all with his John Mayer like tones and dashing looks making Summer fun again with his music. With his releases already setting the blog ablaze, we feel Almost Owen may earn a potential BREAKOUT Artist of the Year nominee Notes 82  Possible nomination: Best Rap / Hip-Hop Song Of The Year for "Suicide" We could've placed Notes 82 anywhere in our categories, bu...

Thoughts Of A Regular Fan: Blackout The Rebel - Far From Home (Album Review)

My name is Michael Bostic, and as most of you know, I am an artist under EDC and host of Thoughts of a Regular Man podcast. But at the end of the day, I am also a fan of music. So starting today, I will be writing for Voiceless Music for a segment called Thoughts of A Regular Fan as I will review songs and albums from independent artists. First up, Blackout The Rebel’s Far From Home. “You will either step forward into growth, or you will step backward into safety” - Abraham Moslow Growth is what we see in Blackout The Rebels new LP, “Far From Home”; growth personally, professionally, and musically. FFM is a story about a man who wants to stay where he belongs but is almost forced to become someone he's not. Anyone who is a fan of Blackout's music knows that he brings something different to the Hip Hop table, something all his own. You don't see many artists today touching on the topics of religion, war, love, success, and partying all in one album and make it ...

Your Title Is Everything

Before we get to hear your music or watch the video whats the first thing that must be explained? The title! Its what captivates us into knowing what you intend to do with your music. It prepares us for the proper mood and vibe to be in. Its our introduction into what you plan to occupy our time and minds with so a catchy title is very much needed.  Now what's catchy to some may not be to others and vice versa but it should be good enough to where some thought is put into how a person intends to go about this particular topic. A perfect example is someone who I've seen run around in this "indiestry" for some time now by the name of Kwoat aka Kwizzy. His project "Somewhere In My Feelings" drops tomorrow so he has decided to release his tracklist for the album. He then had people on his social media think  which song will be their favorite? He is very much in touch with how powerful a great title can be and posing this gives him feedback necessary to ...

Family Business (Michael Bostic, Live Johnson & Blackout The Rebel) - Litty [Petty Freestyle]

All it took was one night in a van for an idea to turn into a song. Creatively engineered by Blackout The Rebel and DJ Mainstream , the petty gang theme song "Petty" by E-40 was turned into an idea and now a freestyle.  But what's a free verse without a few friends? Enter Live Johnson and Michael Bostic . Now collectively known as Family Business , the Queens-based trio put together an interesting 3 The Hard Way freestyle that is sure to put a few people on notice. Parental advisory, "Litty" has explicit content.

EDC (Nikko Tesla, Notes82, Michael Bostic & Live Johnson) - No Smoke (feat. Blackout The Rebel)

Live Johnson called his shot last year. And now he takes it. With an upcoming EP for the group on the way including two big performances coming up (one of which courtesy of Voiceless Music), Every Dollar Counts Ent . looks to make it count with this first crack at a collaborative effort.  And we feel they knock it out the park as Live , Nikko Tesla , the red hot Notes82 , Michael Bostic and featuring Darkside's own Blackout The Rebel , this is sure to be a warning to all other groups on the underground scene. Check out "No Smoke" below.

2019 The End Of The Snitching Era

Happy New Year everyone. I hope you all had a safe and fun New Year's Eve. With the new year comes resolutions and reform. So as far as Hip-Hop goes I pray that one thing in particular stays in 2018 and that's snitch culture. What is snitch culture you ask? Well snitch culture is the broadcasting and promoting of violent and or illegal activity through one's music. Sure it may sound good and it may further support his/her image of being a thug and "real" but it also helps the feds build a case on them. Case in point... Tekashi 69. We are all aware of his case but what's sad is that he's not the first and I pray that he's the last but sadly I doubt it. We can even take it back to Bobby Shmurda. If you don't remember he literally snitched on himself and his team a total of 14 times on the track "Hot Nigga". That song was then used to connect him and his people in illegal activity which gave him the sentence he is sti...

2018 Voiceless Music Awards - Darkside Radio's Blackout The Rebel - Black Sky Freestyle

The 2018 Voiceless Music Awards  goes down in August 19, 2018 live from  DOHA Nightclub  in Queens, NY featuring an exclusive opening performance from 3 -time Voiceless Music Awards  nominees  Thot Boys! And to prepare we are doing  5  cyphers leading up to the epic show featuring  WVMR  radio shows and two epic special features including today's feature... Last years cypher head Blackout The Rebel has quietly sat back and let this year's chosen shows to take their place in leading up to this years awards show. But with Darkside Radio  taking a slight hiatus, the former 3-time  Voiceless Music Award nominee felt it was time to show why he's always an artist first.  For the 3rd (technically) cypher released, check out his  "Black Sky Freestyle" !

DJ Mainstream - John's Plan (feat. Meko Sky, Live Johnson & Blackout the Rebel)

Announced on DJ Mainstream 's Facebook live, it looks like our boss is priming for a Winter release of his mixtape, The Voice of The Voiceless. So with the 2018 Voiceless Music Awards on the way, it seems the show is getting nothing but promo from all the nominated artists ready to win the indie version of the Grammy's.  But for today's featured artists, that vibe is completely different due to their closeness with the Voiceless Music general. With God's Plan hitting the speakers, Meko Sky, Live Johnson and Blackout the Rebel presents us with... "John's Plan".

Monday Night RAWRR / Katie Kay / Rockview Ent's The Give Back Show Gave Back In A Big Way!

With all eyes on Shileleigh Tavern , The Give Back Show was literally the hottest ticket in town. As mother nature began her reign of snow terror, our illustrious 'promoter' for the night Katie Kay  reassured us all the show will go on... and she did not disappoint the masses. (One of the host for The Give Back Show:  Bizzy Bee )  A grungy space full of Irish with love, the Tavern definitely filled with the whose who from Voiceless Music , WVMR  radio station, and more all f or  # ShawnSaguid   as  Bizzy Bee and Raybeauty set the tone for the show as our amazing hosts.  (Multi-tine Voiceless Music Awards nominee: J. Garc)   As we arrived, J. Garc was already gracing the stage as the Voiceless Music Awards nominee had the crowd on tilt with his smash "Lose My Mind". The Long Island Fresh Prince has not only showed much improve growth in his presence in front of ...

Breaking News: Ant the Rebel (DJ AO) creates his first event.

Claim the Throne , is an event that I have been planning since the beginning of my semester.  Seeing the works of Cool Chellz , DJ Mainstream , Blackout the Rebel ,  and Katie Kay , it was only right for the most pettiest one to create his own event.  Claim the Throne will occur on January 13th, in Harlem, New York at Harlem Nights. Doors will open at 7 and the showcase will start at 8. The goal of this event is to see what these independent artists have to offer since there are so many artists. It will feature 8 artists from various genres. It is not a competition, but a test to see whether some of these artists are worthy for this game we call "Music".  In addition, we will have two vendors. They will be selling some art work and apparels. It will be a night of music and fun.  I am inviting all artists and media to come network and have fun. It is always fun when you are  Kickin it w. DJ AO (Ant the Rebel).  For further details,...

The Radio Home for the Independent has gone through a little bit of a face lift starting off our second year on air.  Gone are some of our classic hit shows Lyve Lyfe Radio, Trippy Radio, Runner Up Radio, and the Leeway ... but one show has always remained the same.  Boasting a 2-time most listened to show recoded on the station and averaging 300 listeners a month, the hit show with the #MondayNightVibe has maintained staying power through celebrity guests, ART Fest winners, and co-host changes.  But now with a new vision on taking things to another level, the hit show begins anew with a re-brand! On November 6, Darkside Radio returns to the airwaves but Blackout The Rebel is bringing new blood to WVMR ! As announced on Monday's Loud Silence Radio, introducing Alexia Castellano ! Call em Out: New Segment on VoicelessMusic.com

From Blackout The Rebel's , Fuckboy/Fuckgirl Friday , to now Call em Out w. Anthony Obas ! Call em out is a radio segment on WAER HD3 where a couple of friends and I address some of the idiocy that goes on inside and outside the entertainment industry. Now,you get two source of rants! One from Blackout the Rebel and another one from me. First episode below.

Blackout The Rebel - Train of Thought (Album Review)

Concept albums are few and far between, especially on the independent scene. In a dominated era of mumble rap and random single releases with no follow up and substance, Queens MC Blackout The Rebel  quells what's missing taking a trip on the E train from World Trade to Jamaica Center - Parsons & Archer with his follow-up to The E.N.D. in Train of Thought . One noticeable trend is MCs have become influence through WVMR 's reach since being on the station and seeing the barometer of other artists around him. And between both projects, the Darkside Radio 's resident corresponded has show as such on the for-certain break out single "100" which flips the vibe greatly from what we are use to on from going from conscience to club... comfortably.  But what sticks out from this project is what we hope can be a major follow up single, the very soulful "Motions" featuring longtime collaborator Mi...

Blackout The Rebel Drops Upcoming Artwork From His Sophomore Album!

Between being nominated for a 2017 Voiceless Music Award , running Darkside Radio , and coordinating his own stage during HipHopRetreatWeek (The Dark Stage), Blackout The Rebel has maintained one of the buisiest schedules on the independent scene.  But jest we forget, he's still a MC at heart... Above is the track listing for his upcoming album which is scheduled to drop on the day of his HHRW stage, August 13th.  Artwork done by IamLiveGraphix and photo by Katie Kay Photography , it seems the rebel from "Darkside", Jamaica, Queens is out to prove a point.  Train Of Thought drops this Sunday, and Voiceless Music will have a full review by the end of next week!

2017 Voiceless Music Awards: Darkside Radio Cypher

The 2017 Voiceless Music Awards  goes down in August 29, 2017 live from  Amarachi Lounge  in Brooklyn, NY featuring an exclusive opening performance from  2-time Voiceless Music Awards  winners  Sativa Sensei, Siano, Yung Low, Motive  and  Star Qualified: SQMG! And to prepare we are doing  5  cyphers leading up to the epic show featuring  WVMR  radio shows:  Loud Silence Radio, Lyve Lyfe Radio, a special cypher from SQMG, The Daily Talk  and today's feature... With arsenal already ready in the chamber, Blackout The Rebel enlists Nikko Tesla, Live Johnson, Kony Brooks and a VERY SPECIAL GUEST to clapback and take the title as the best cypher so far! Welcome to the Darkside !

The Voiceless Music Op Ed: What Does It Take?

A few weeks ago I was asked what does it take to make it in this business? I replied by simply saying... "Your Soul". The person I said this to laughed but the laughter and smile quickly faded when They realized that it wasn't intended to be a joke unfortunately. Friendships severed, relationships with significant others fade away or end altogether, "missing" out on vacations, outings and not being able to spend time with the family. All of these things are symptoms of this great "Indiestry" that we have decided to become apart of. A lot of times people walk into this world blind with no sort of idea of what it will take to from you in order to succeed. Had most people knew that this would be the toll that would have to be paid I think a lot of people would have reconsidered. There's also others who became who they are today due to everything they've endured along the way. Struggle builds character and there's no quite struggle like ...
