SKOK has to be one of, if not the, most underrated lyricist we've featured on our site. From wordplay and delivery, to the jewels dropped on air on Voiceless Music Radio last year to what's on wax, the man is a threat. Continuing to aim for the heads of rappers and the ears of fans, the upstate NY resident takes on 2 Chainz standout from late last year and turns into his own (as usual). Yann The Man has gone after everything and anything in the rap industry when it comes to instrumentals. But for the first time , Yann takes on all-original beats for his Exposure EP. Not many speak on the unfortunate of past people, but "Frenemies" is Yann The Man  found a way of venting on all those people. But even some MCs have a heart, as Mt. Vernon’s finest takes his affinity for the opposite sex on “With Her” that gives Yann a very distinct mainstream-like sound. But the song stuck in our rotation? Of course, the song he released last night on Voiceless Music Radio , “Money” which has that club feel but shows Yann ’s overall growth and improvement since first touching our stage. Yesterday, we lost a true legend in Phife Dawg and everyone from old to young celebrated his life with some classics from A Tribe Called Quest  either via radio, video or social networking. Star Qualified has been grinding throughout 2015 just to get to the drop of their newest mixtape, Major Royalty 4 . Off the bat, you can tell from the 1st edition until now, SQ has greatly improved on wordplay and chosen the right rhythm to fit not only their signature infectious club sound (such as on “So Bad” ) to their superior female dedications (such as on “No Better” ). But while fighting the typical judgments from critics that they only do‘trap music’, the 2015 Voiceless Music Awards winners switch it up with songs like “Sunshine” featuring longtime collaborator E11even and the even more braggadocios “Take It There” featuring Yung Low which takes a few unexpected shots to the independent industry. Ricky Rude has not slowed down yet since the release of Rude Radio Vol. 1 . But where convinced while that project was for fun, his upcoming album The Reckless Recluse is not for games. Earlier this year, we dropped of the acclaimed lead single off of Rude’s project featuring Dark Lo and the one and only AR-AB and now we are back with the video. What happens when you fuse indie rock, jazz and some experimental soul? Sounds like a good time with music from the Nick Valentini Collective . The band, born out of L.A., hasn’t been together long, but their sound gives off the longevity vibe as if they were meant to be. Nick Valentini, alongside the bassist Erik, tenor sax player Hugo, the guitarist Nate, flute extraordinaire Nicolo, Nick Velez on the drums, the smooth strings of Gabriel and Tyler on the keys , the group has made SoCal into their personal orchestral playground.
